About The Course
The Foundation Training Course in Applied Kinesiology is open to practitioners who have completed a minimum of 3,000 hours of full-time undergraduate education (typically three or more years) in a medically oriented discipline, including osteopathy, chiropractic, physiotherapy, medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine.
This clinically focused programme is designed to deepen diagnostic accuracy and expand clinical reasoning skills for both early-career and experienced practitioners. It provides a structured, progressive framework for evaluating complex and persistent clinical presentations.
Through a step-by-step learning sequence, each module builds upon the previous, allowing participants to consolidate skills and apply learning directly in practice. The course equips practitioners with practical tools to determine when, where, and how to intervene in order to support optimal patient outcomes.
COURSE OUTLINE
The programme consists of five weekend modules delivered over five consecutive months, from October through February. Each module runs on Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
In addition to comprehensive training in manual muscle testing of over 40 primary muscles, the programme covers structural assessment and correction, neurological and reflex systems, cranial and TMJ evaluation, nutritional and biochemical regulation, endocrine and immune integration, emotional and stress influences, meridian theory and balancing strategies, and clinical prioritisation and treatment planning. Each module builds on the previous, allowing participants to consolidate skills and apply learning in clinical practice between sessions.
Module 1
Foundations of Applied Kinesiology – Assessment, Testing, and Clinical Integration
17/18 October 2026
Module 1 introduces the core principles and clinical reasoning that underpin Applied Kinesiology practice. You will develop a foundation in muscle testing, the triad of health, reflex and meridian systems, therapy localisation and challenge, postural assessment, and muscle–organ relationships.
You will learn to integrate structural, chemical, and emotional factors to interpret muscle responses accurately and ethically.
Core Areas of Focus:
- Functional manual muscle testing
- The triad of health
- Reflex systems and meridian relationships
- Therapy localisation and challenge
- Postural and spinal assessment
- Muscle–organ and neurological relationships
- Pelvic categories and sacropelvic organisation
Module 2
Emotional, Craniosacral and TMJ Integration
21/22 November 2026
Module 2 develops the integration of emotional, craniosacral, and stomatognathic systems within Applied Kinesiology practice. In this module, you will expand your clinical skills in assessing emotional stress patterns, nutritional influences, craniosacral rhythm and motion, cranial lesion patterns, and temporomandibular and hyoid function.
You will learn to integrate emotional, chemical, and structural findings to enhance postural balance, neurological regulation, and overall clinical outcomes.
Core Areas of Focus:
- Emotional stress reflexes and regulation
- Nutritional and substance testing
- Craniosacral rhythm and motion assessment
- Cranial lesion patterns and correction
- TMJ and hyoid assessment and integration
- Integration of cranial and postural systems
Module 3
Orthomolecular and Biochemical Regulation in Applied Kinesiology
12/13 December 2026
Module 3 develops advanced understanding of biochemical, nutritional, and detoxification processes within Applied Kinesiology practice. In this module, you will build clinical skills in assessing lymphatic and gastrointestinal function, immune regulation, chemical sensitivity, inflammatory pathways, fatty acid metabolism, and detoxification capacity.
You will learn to apply orthomolecular principles to support cellular function, immune resilience, metabolic balance, and long-term physiological regulation.
Core Areas of Focus:
- Lymphatic system assessment and support
- Gastrointestinal assessment and regulation
- Immune system assessment and modulation
- Histamine and chemical sensitivity
- Inflammatory pathways
- Essential fatty acids and prostaglandins
- Detoxification and sulphur metabolism
Module 4
Endocrine and Neuro-Hormonal Integration
23/24 January 2027
Module 4 develops advanced clinical understanding of glandular, hormonal, and neuro-endocrine regulation within Applied Kinesiology practice. In this module, you will deepen your skills in assessing endocrine–neurological relationships, prioritising primary glandular drivers, interpreting hormonal investigations, and managing stress-related dysfunction.
You will learn to identify patterns of hormonal imbalance, evaluate central and peripheral glandular interactions, and apply targeted interventions to restore adaptive physiological balance.
Core Areas of Focus:
- Endocrine and hormonal organisation
- Endocrine and neurological integration
- Pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, and reproductive systems
- Interpretation of blood tests in hormone dysfunction
- Stress physiology and adaptive response
- Prioritisation of glandular dysfunction
- Neurological disorganisation (switching)
Module 5
Advanced Clinical Integration – Structural and Acupuncture Meridian Systems
13/14 February 2027
Module 5 consolidates advanced structural assessment, extremity rehabilitation, and meridian-based regulation within Applied Kinesiology practice. In this module, you will develop high-level clinical skills in lumbar disc evaluation, extremity subluxation correction, gait and compensation analysis, and comprehensive meridian assessment.
You will learn to integrate biomechanical, neurological, energetic, and postural findings to manage complex musculoskeletal presentations and restore functional balance across the whole kinetic chain.
Core Areas of Focus:
- Lumbar disc assessment and correction strategies
- Nerve root involvement and neurological indicators
- Extremity subluxation and compensation patterns
- Functional chain and gait analysis
- Foot pronation assessment and correction
- Meridian theory and clinical application
- Meridian point location and stimulation techniques
- Yin–Yang, Five Element, and Qi regulation
- Meridian–organ–muscle–spinal relationships
- Meridian balancing and clinical integration protocols
At the end of the course
On successful completion of all five modules, participants are eligible to sit the Proficiency Examination, a practical assessment designed to evaluate manual muscle testing skills and core Applied Kinesiology concepts within a clinical context. Successful candidates are awarded a Certificate of Proficiency and receive one year’s complimentary membership of ICAK-UK (current annual fee: £99).
Following completion of the Foundation Course, practitioners may progress to three intermediate modules covering the Cranium and TMJ, the Acupuncture Meridian System, and Peripheral Joint Dysfunctions. These advanced modules further develop clinical competence and integrative reasoning. On completion of this stage, candidates are eligible to sit the Test of Clinical Competence, comprising both written and practical assessments. Successful candidates are awarded the Certificate of Clinical Competence and are granted Professional Applied Kinesiology (PAK) status.
As a licensed Applied Kinesiology practitioner and member of ICAK-UK, you will be recognised as meeting established professional standards within the field. Membership provides access to advanced CPD programmes, preferential course fees, early notification of national and international training opportunities, and regular updates on ICAK educational activities worldwide. Members also benefit from additional discounts across Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced programmes, and from being part of a professional UK and international community dedicated to shared learning, clinical development, and the ongoing advancement of Applied Kinesiology.
